Disposition of Assets
Technology Destruction of Data Data storage devices will be removed from devices for repurpose or destruction. Alternatively data storage devices may be sanitized/wiped to remove data from the device. Sanitization/wiping will be by means specified by the manufacturer or by industry best practices and tools (e.g. Darik’s Boot N Nuke). Disposal of Assets with Residual Value Assets with considerable residual value will be offered by competitive bid or posting to gov deals. The sale of assets must be directed/authorized by the board.
Asset Grading
Grade Description A (Mint) New or close to new devices. These devices may have been used once or twice in their life-cycle. No Dents or Dings No Housing Cracks No Frame Bending No Visible Scratches No Loose Hinges No Missing Decal Pieces No Missing Keys Display has no blemishes B (1 to 2 signs of use) Show some signs of being used. If the device has more than 2 signs of use they automatically move to a C grade. No Cracks No Loose hinges No Missing decal pieces No Dents No Missing Keys Minor Dings or Scratches Minor Frame Bending Minor Scuffing Display may not have bright spots, shadowing, brightness/color issues, glass display issues Display may have pea sized pitting or minor visible scratches C Light wear with some surface level scratches and minimal small dings. Moderate wear, some surface level scratches one or two deep scratches. Some pitting, dings and dents. Minor corner dents Minor dings/pitting Housing cracks Loose hinges No Missing Keys Moderate scratches Display has no lines, no brightness/color issues Display may have moderate pitting/key imprints, one small bright spot, minor shadowing, moderate scratches D
Fully functional, most common after 3 to 5 years of use. Poor condition, moderate wear, some surface level scratches, one to two deeper scratches, some pitting dings and dents. Moderate to major: Dents, Dings, Pitting, Scratches Moderate frame bending Broken Hinges No Missing Keys Display has no lines, no brightness/color issues Display may have major pitting/key imprints, 2-3 bright spots, moderate shadowing, deep scratches F (Salvage) Broken or non-functional devices. Heavier wear - case scarring deeper scratches, scuffs, pitting, dings, dents, possible LCD imaging or tripped liquid damage indicator.
Disposal of Assets Classified as Junk or Scrap Assets with little to no value will be furnished for recycling. Assets not suitable for recycling will be furnished to the district's waste management vendor. A report of assets recycled or trashed will be provided to the board. Disposal of Assets by Sale to Staff Due to the time required to support the sale of assets to staff, and an expectation of post-sale support (despite the sale being as-is no warranty), disposition of assets by sale to staff will not be entertained.
